The specific topic will be chosen together with the student, taking into account their interests and prior skills. Possible fields include: urbanisation and bats, artificial habitats, citizen science, infrastructures, parasitology, health indicators, and more.
Birds and window collisions

Collisions with glass surfaces are one of the main human-induced causes of bird mortality. This is a global problem that affects both urban and rural areas throughout the year. In collaboration with the Estonian Environmental Agency and the Estonian Wildlife Centre, we have collected data on various cases with the aim of creating a science-based dataset to highlight and mitigate the problem.
The thesis involves large-scale data analysis, fieldwork, and active communication with people. Skills in GIS software and R are preferred, but these can also be acquired through university courses.
